A cryptocurrency wallet is a hardware unit, software program, or service that stores the public and/or private keys for cryptocurrency transactions. You don't need a wallet to spend your cash, just as with traditional money, but it does help to keep everything in one place. A user can store cryptocurrency, such as bitcoins, in a cryptocurrency wallet and use it to make transactions from there.
A private key is an alphanumeric code that allows you to access your bitcoin or cryptocurrency assets. It's the only way to prove you're the rightful owner. This key has always to be kept secret. “Not your keys, not your bitcoin,” says the narrator. Andreas Antonopoulos (Andreas Antonopoulos)
Your public key is a code which is a like an IBAN. You can share you key to anyone and it will enable you to receive cryptocurrencies from anyone. Each crypto currency has it’s own address. Always be careful to copy the right one which you want to receive the specific crypto in. Also, double check that the public address is copied correctly and that it is yours.
